Why Choose Bew Dogs for your new puppy essentials?
As any dog owner knows, puppies grow quickly, and finding the right fit for their clothes and accessories can be a challenge. With our new scheme, you don’t have to wait for your puppy to outgrow their gear before buying new, well-fitting essentials. Instead, you can shop for the perfect size at any stage of their growth, knowing that when they outgrow their products, they can be recycled, and you’ll receive a huge 50% discount on a replacement item.
Benefits of the Puppy Product Recycling Programme:

Affordable and Sustainable The Puppy Product Recycling Programme is a great way to save money and shop sustainably. When your puppy grows out of their accessory, simply return it to us, and we’ll give you 50% off a replacement product in the new size needed. Not only will you get a great deal, but you’ll also be contributing to reducing waste and supporting a more sustainable future.
Eco-Friendly and Responsible As a brand that values the planet, we’re committed to minimising waste. By recycling your gently used dog accessories, we help to ensure that fewer products end up in landfill, making the world a greener place for future generations of pups.
Reduces the Need for Fast Fashion in Pet Accessories By participating in our programme, you’re helping to combat the rise of fast fashion, which often leads to excessive waste and overproduction. Instead, you’re supporting a more sustainable approach to puppy fashion that values quality over quantity. With each recycled product, you’re playing a part in slowing down the cycle of mass production and encouraging thoughtful consumption.
Helps Other Puppies and Their Families As part of our sustainability mission, some of the products returned may be gently refurbished and passed on to puppies in need through local shelters or rescue organisations. Not only are you recycling your puppy’s gear, but you may also be giving a less fortunate puppy a chance to experience quality products.
Exclusive Offers and Loyalty Rewards Customers who participate in the recycling programme and sign upto our newsletter will gain access to rewards such as exclusive offers, loyalty discounts, and early access to new collections. This way, returning products can benefit you even further, creating a win-win situation for both your wallet and the planet!
Promotes a Circular Economy By choosing to return and recycle products, you’re supporting a circular economy model where products and materials are reused, refurbished, and repurposed. This helps keep resources in use for longer, reducing the environmental impact of producing new items.
Encourages Conscious Consumerism Our Puppy Product Recycling Programme encourages customers to think carefully about what they purchase. It promotes conscious consumerism by allowing pet owners to buy what they truly need, knowing that they won’t have to discard products that are still in good condition. This shift towards more mindful buying decisions helps foster a healthier, more sustainable shopping culture.

As we step into a new year, dog fashion continues to evolve, offering more opportunities for us to pamper and style our beloved pets. Whether your pooch is your bestie or fur-baby, if like us you’re someone who has always considered their dog as part of the family, your dog’s style and comfort is likely just as important as your own. In 2025, we’ll see an exciting shift in the dog fashion world, with fresh trends that embrace both luxury and practicality. Here’s a sneak peek at the dog fashion trends for 2025 – what’s in, what’s out, and how you can ensure your pup stays ahead of the pack.
1. Colour Trends for 2025: Soft Pastels, metallics and deep colour-drenching
Just as fashion for humans has its seasonal palettes, dog fashion follows suit, with exciting new colours making their way into luxury dog accessories in 2025.
Soft Pastels: For those looking for elegance and sophistication, pastels will continue to be popular. Soft shades like lavender, peach, and mint green create a calming, chic look – perfect for the woman who wants to pair her stylish attire with her dog’s look.
Metallics & Deep Jewel Tones: Luxurious metallics like gold, silver, and bronze will grace the finest collars and leashes, adding a touch of glamour. Additionally, deep jewel tones like emerald green and midnight blue will be perfect for evening walks or special occasions, ensuring your dog’s accessories shine brightly. Keep to one or two deep colours to elevate your dog’s style in 2025.
2. Sustainable Fashion: Eco-Friendly Trends for 2025
Sustainability isn’t just for your wardrobe – it’s now making waves in dog fashion as well. As luxury meets eco-consciousness, the 2025 trends will reflect a growing demand for sustainable pet products. Here are a few ways you can stay stylish while being kind to the planet:
Recycled and Biodegradable Products: From eco-friendly collars to biodegradable poo bags, it’s clear that sustainability is becoming as important in pet fashion as it is in human fashion. At Bew Dogs, we are dedicated to offering products that merge style and responsibility and leading the way.
Eco-Friendly Materials: Look for accessories that are made from durable materials and built to last – our products might be stylish but they are not fast fashion! These materials not only help protect the environment but also offer softness and comfort that your dog will appreciate, sending less to landfill and being used again and again.
3. Must-Have Accessories for 2025: Elevating Your Dog’s Style
For those who view their dog as an extension of their own personality, stylish accessories are a must. In 2025, expect to see these accessories reigning supreme.
Chic Harness, Collars and Leads: Gone are the days of plain leather collars. Now, it’s all about luxury, comfort and stylish accessories. At Bew Dogs, we pride ourselves on offering these high-end accessories that provide comfort and style. After all, a harness and lead set isn’t just for walks – it’s an essential part of your dog’s outfit!
Luxurious Sweaters & Coats: Cosy and oh so cute – luxurious cable knit sweaters, plush cashmere scarves, and sleek dog coats will be all the rage. These items aren’t just functional for the colder months; they also ensure that your dog is always stylish, whether lounging at home or strolling through the park.
Sailor Bows & Bow Ties: For special occasions or just everyday flair, bows are a fun and fashionable choice. Think matching colours, luxury materials like velvet and “less is more” to add personality without compromising on elegance.
4. The Rise of Smart Accessories: Technology Meets Fashion
In 2025, fashion-forward dogs will be rocking more than just stylish collars and coats – they’ll be sporting high-tech accessories designed to enhance their safety, comfort, and convenience.
Smart Collars: Collars that track your dog’s activity, health, and location are becoming more popular. These accessories offer practical benefits while still maintaining a stylish appearance. Think sleek, minimalist designs with integrated technology that seamlessly fits into your dog’s wardrobe.
LED Accessories: As the days get shorter, dogs can still shine with LED collars and leashes that provide visibility during night walks. Fashionable yet practical, these accessories combine luxury with function, ensuring your dog’s safety while adding a cool, modern touch to their look.
5. What’s Out in 2025: Pet Fashion Faux Pas
While dog fashion is all about experimenting with new trends, it’s also important to know what’s slipping out of style. Here’s what to avoid in 2025.
Overly Flashy Logos: In 2025, we’re moving towards a more refined, subtle aesthetic. Excessive branding on collars or coats may feel dated, with luxury brands embracing understated elegance over big, bold logos. Think minimalist designs, subtle textures, and high-quality materials that speak for themselves.
Excessive Bling: While a little sparkle can add flair, over-the-top rhinestones or glittery accessories may fall out of favour to more sophisticated, timeless looks. Luxury is all about restraint and refined details.
Fussy, overdone patterns: We’re sure to continue seeing patterned dog accessories, which can be cute but has been truly done to death! Expect fussy patterns to take a backseat this year to make way for stylish and curated colour pieces instead.
6. How to Create a Signature Style for Your Dog
Now that you know what’s trending in dog fashion, how do you create a signature style for your own dog? Start by considering your dog’s personality and your own style preferences, and check you have the following in your paw-drobe
Dog Walking Bag: the ultimate functional item for all dog owners, dog walking bags will remain a staple accessory for 2025. Fed up of boring bags that need to be dropped off at home before brunch? Check out Bew Dogs’ stylish velvet walking bags, and match this to your pooch’s outfit at the same time.
Quality Harness: love pastel colours but own a mud monster? Consider saving lighter colours for dry months or special occasions, always chose durable products that are machine washable and pick a darker colour drenched harness for everyday wear instead, and your pup can stay stylish everyday.
Matching leads: Why not match the colour of your lead (or leads) to the rest of your pet’s paw-drobe. chose colours that are complimentary and ensure you have a stylish, curated look on every walk.
Conclusion: Stay Ahead of the Fashion Curve in 2025

To accurately measure your dog for a harness, start by preparing a quiet and distraction-free area. Guarantee your dog is relaxed and calm. Measure the neck circumference and the widest part of the chest, usually just behind the front legs.
Keep the tape snug but not too tight and leave room for two fingers to fit between the tape and your dog’s body. Once you have your measurements, consult the product size guide and make sure you determine the correct harness size that aligns correctly with your dog’s body.
If you follow these steps, you’ll be well on your way to finding the perfect harness for your dog.
How to Measure a Dog for a Harness – Bewdogs’ Quick Take
You can measure a dog for a harness by using a flexible tape measure. Measure around the widest part of the chest and the base of the neck for accurate sizing.
Key Takeaways
• Find the perfect sized harness with two simple measurements!
• Measure the dog’s neck circumference in centimetres, ensuring a snug fit with a tape measure.
• Measure the widest part of the chest to find the correct size, allowing the dog to relax and move freely.
• Take measurements during the dog’s calmest time of day, in a quiet and cozy spot for accurate readings.
• Use the two-finger rule to ensure a comfortable and secure fit, with enough room for two fingers between the harness and the dog’s body.
• If your pooch is between sizes, we’d normally recommend going for the larger of the two, however, this depends on the breed and age of dog etc. DO SEND US A MESSAGE with your measurements and we’ll use our expertise to advise the correct sized harness for your dog.
Preparing to Measure Your Dog
When it comes to measuring your dog for a harness, setting up the right conditions is important. You should pick a spot in your home where your dog feels at ease, away from noise and distractions, and at a time of day when they’re likely to be calm.
For more detailed advice, check out our guide on choosing a dog harness to ensure you find the best fit for your furry friend.
Additionally, making sure your dog is relaxed and comfortable during the measurement process is key. Using a fabric tape measure ensures accurate and snug measurements for selecting the correct harness size.
Choose a comfortable and quiet location
Before you start measuring your dog for a harness, choose a quiet and cozy location that allows your dog to feel relaxed and move freely.
Pick a familiar spot, away from distractions, to help your dog unwind. This guarantees precise measurements and a correct harness fit that will enhance your dog’s comfort and safety.
Select the right time of day for measurement
Measure your dog during a time of day when they’re typically most calm and relaxed. This guarantees accurate measurements and a stress-free experience for both you and your dog.
Consider the following:
• Avoid measuring your dog after exercise or playtime, as they may be too energetic.
• Measure your dog after a walk or meal, when they tend to be more relaxed.
• If your dog is easily excitable, measure them during a quiet morning or evening period.
Ensure your dog is relaxed and calm
Give your dog the chance to move away if they become uncomfortable during the measurement process. Enlist a buddy to distract them or offer treats to help them relax.
This guarantees a comfortable fit, making it easier to measure their neck circumference and chest circumference accurately. Adjusting the harness later will be a breeze with a relaxed dog.
Taking Measurements for Harness
We’ve been able to help customers with more difficult to fit breeds due to their natural body shape, such as dachshunds, French Bulldogs, Pugs and Toy breeds. So, whether you’re looking for a harness for a cockapoo, Chihuahua or a Chow Chow… just use our guide below to find the perfect sized harness from Bew Dogs.
Now it’s time to take your dog’s measurements, including the dog’s chest size.
Using a fabric tape measure ensures accurate and snug measurements for selecting the correct harness size. You’ll need to measure around their neck and the widest part of their chest, to guarantee a perfect fit: two simple steps!
Measure around the dog’s neck with a tape measure
When it comes to measuring your dog for a harness, the neck measurement is an important part of securing a comfortable and safe fit. Wrap the flexible measuring tape snugly around your dog’s neck, positioning it at the base of the neck, just behind the ears, to guarantee a precise measurement.
This measurement is vital to selecting the right harness size for your furry friend.
• Accurate Placement: Ensure the tape is positioned right behind the ears for the most precise measurement.
• Two-Finger Rule: Leave space for two fingers between the tape and your dog’s skin to prevent discomfort.
• Record the Measurement: Note the measurement in centimeters to precisely determine the size of your dog’s neck.
Measure around the widest part of the dog’s chest
You’ll measure your dog’s chest circumference by wrapping a measuring tape around the widest part of their torso, which is typically just behind their front legs (depending on the breed).
The tape should be snug but not tight, allowing two fingers between it and your dog’s body.
This guarantees a comfortable and precise measurement of your dog’s chest size, which is crucial for proper harness sizing.
Understanding Dog Harness Types
When choosing a harness, you’ll encounter different types, each with its own unique features. You’ll need to decide between front clip harnesses and back clip harnesses, which differ in where the lead attachment is located.
Different dog breeds may require different harness sizes based on their specific body proportions – and luckily, our adjustable harnesses and range of sizes mean we have been able to help hundreds of difficult to size dogs, getting the perfect fit!
Front clip harnesses and back clip harnesses
Front clip harnesses feature the leash attachment on the dog’s chest area, while back clip harnesses have the leash attachment on the dog’s back.
Here are some points to bear in mind:
• Front clip harnesses help reduce pulling by tugging the dog sideways when they pull.
• Back clip harnesses can be more comfortable but may trigger the dog’s oppositional reflex.
• Adjusting both types correctly is essential for a safe and comfortable fit.
Fitting and Adjusting Harness
Thankfully, Bew Dogs harnesses are not only stylish but also ultra-adjustable… both the body and neck can be adjusted to the perfect size, ensuring maximum support for your precious pooch.
Our harnesses are also slightly padded for the highest levels of comfort for your best friend and come in sizes XXS to Large, and can cater for most size and breed of dogs, including toy breeds and puppies.
Now that you’ve selected the right harness size, it’s time to put it on your dog and harness adjust the straps for a comfortable fit.
You’ll want to check the tightness and comfort of the harness, making sure it’s not too loose or too snug.
Put the harness on your dog and adjust the straps
To guarantee the harness fits snugly and comfortably on your dog, carefully position the back piece along their back, making sure it doesn’t slide or rotate excessively.
Adjust the harness straps ensuring they fit comfortably without constricting your dog.
Implement the two-finger rule around the neck and chest to avoid tightness.
Check the tightness and comfort of the harness
Guarantee that the harness fits snugly without being too restrictive or loose so your dog can move comfortably without the risk of the harness shifting or slipping off.
Check the tightness and comfort by leaving enough space for your dog to fit two fingers between the harness and their body.
Make adjustments as necessary to secure a comfortable fit.
Ensure a proper fit to prevent escape or discomfort
Proper fitting is crucial to guarantee your dog remains securely and comfortably in their harness, safeguarding them from both short and long-term health issues.
Follow these steps to ensure a proper fit:
• Use the Two-Finger Rule: Make sure that you can fit two fingers comfortably between the harness and your dog, indicating a snug yet comfortable fit.
• Adjust Straps: Regularly adjust the straps to accommodate changes in your dog’s size or shape, ensuring the harness remains secure and comfortable.
• Regular Check-Ups: Conduct regular check-ups to verify that the harness remains in good condition and continues to fit your dog properly.
Troubleshooting and Final Check
Peach Orange Harness
Cream and blue harnesses
Now that you’ve fitted and adjusted your dog’s harness to the correct size, it’s crucial to troubleshoot any potential issues and make final checks.
If your dog attempts to back out of the harness, you’ll need to adjust it to prevent escape.
What if the dog tries to back out of the harness?
If your dog tries to back out of the harness, avoid pulling the leash entirely, as this could lead to accidents or more discomfort for your pet.
Check the fit of the harness to guarantee it’s not too loose or too tight.
Adjust the straps to provide a snug, comfortable fit.
Consider a different harness style or size if the issue persists.
How to troubleshoot a harness that doesn’t fit
When your dog’s harness doesn’t fit quite right, you need to identify and fix the issue to prevent discomfort and potential health problems.
Check for a proper fit, ensuring the harness adheres to the two-finger rule around the neck and chest.
Verify proper positioning, ensuring the back piece rests along the dog’s back without sliding or rotating.
Double-check the fit and make adjustments as needed
All signs of a poor fit must be addressed, guaranteeing that the harness doesn’t slide out of position. Adjust the straps as needed to achieve a comfortable and secure fit.
Make regular checks of your dog’s harness to confirm it remains a proper fit. Adjust the straps if your dog gains or loses weight. Update measurements as your dog grows or changes shape.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Tools Are Necessary to Measure a Dog’s Harness Size?
To measure your dog’s harness size, you’ll need a few tools: a flexible measuring tape, paper and pen for recording measurements, and optional treats or toys to keep your dog calm during the process.
How Can I Ensure Accurate Measurements if My Dog Won’t Stand Still?
To guarantee accurate measurements, enlist a helper to hold your dog while you measure. Use soft measuring tape or twine to get a snug but not tight fit. Measure three times to compensate for movement.
Can I Use My Dog’s Collar Size to Determine Their Harness Size?
Your dog’s collar size doesn’t directly translate to harness size. Different styles and brands have varying fits, so measuring your dog’s chest girth and neck circumference guarantees an accurate and comfortable fit.
Will One Brand’s Harness Size Be Consistent With Another Brand’s Harness Size?
No, one brand’s harness size will not be consistent with another brand’s harness size. Measurements are brand-specific, so you must take your dog’s measurements and check each manufacturer’s sizing chart to guarantee the best fit.
Can a Harness Be Too Loose or Too Tight?
Yes, a harness can be too loose, allowing your dog to slip out, or too tight, causing discomfort or even health problems. Guarantee a snug fit by leaving room for two fingers between the harness and your dog’s body.
At Bew Dogs, we understand the importance of sustainable dog products, both for the planet and for our pets comfort and wellbeing. Like many these days, when we are looking for items for our precious pooches we want to ensure that we’re contributing to sustainability and making eco-conscious choices. That’s why in just a short space of time, we’ve introduced a number of sustainability upgrades to our products and production line to assist with our eco-friendly goals. Check them out below.
Harnesses and Leads designed for sustainability
Our stunning herringbone harnesses and rope leads are designed to be long-lasting and durable. They are made with quality fabrics, which as well as having a luxurious and comfortable feel, also mean they are made to last. Excessive waste contributes to planet pollution, whereas choosing high quality items that will last longer is another simple way to support sustainability… and your little friend will definitely thank you for choosing a lovely sustainable and comfortable harness for them to enjoy. Got a messy pup who loves the sea, sand, water and… mud? No problem, our harnesses can be machine washed occasionally on a low-heat, gentle setting.
Sustainable Vegan LeatherCollar Tags
Our cute besties tags, including this “best friend” tag, and the matching “puppy at heart” are made from vegan leather. As animal lovers we, of course, never use any animal products in any of our materials. But did you know that the environmental impact of producing vegan leather is lower than real leather as well? What a great sustainability win to boot (excuse the pun)!
Besties Collar Tags
We absolutely love our Bew Dogs collar tags, perfect for our puppies at heart and best doggo friends. Our collar accessories come with a sturdy metal clasp. Pair them with any Bew Dogs collar for a winning combination.
From the start, we’ve never had any plastic bags and have stocked good quality card bags at events. These allow our customers to take their purchases home safely, and are strong enough to be reused. We now have branded canvas bags on sale for just £2 at events. These are eco-friendly and can be used over and over for all kinds of reasons. We don’t make any profit on these, but have them as a sustainable option which supports our eco-friendly mission. Want to add one of our canvas bags to your order? No problem, just send us a quick message and this can easily be arranged.
Sustainable Poo Bags at great prices
As kind to earth as we are to our beloved dogs. Our biodegradable poo bags come in a signature pastel colour, making them stylish as well as eco-friendly. These bags are strong and easy to use… and we’re getting great 5* reviews for these! Their sustainable material breaks down more easily in the environment compared to traditional plastic bags, which can take hundreds of years to decompose.
We’ve also kept the box designs simple, so the boxes can be fully recycled too (no plastic nasties)!
Each box contains 8 rolls, which is 120 bags in total and if that wasn’t eco awesome enough… these are now on special offer for just £5 a box! Stock up and save and get 3 boxes for just £12… now that is a steal.
We now have the handy option at checkout for all our customers to select eco-friendly reduced packaging. This has become really popular with our customers. Whilst there is a place for beautifully wrapped parcels for special pupmail gifts or occasions, all customers now have the option to receive their order “naked” with no additional tissue paper from us. We’ll also recycle any packaging for you where we can.
We’re always striving to make our brand more sustainable and eco-friendly, so if you have any suggestions about this, no matter how big or small, we’d love to hear from you! Just message us on instagram, facebook or send us an email at [email protected]

We had a very exciting weekend at Thame Country Fair last week, and were pleased to meet so many of you at our first exhibitor event. Being a new and independent business, fairs and events are a great way for us to meet potential customers and for you to see our lovely products in person. We got to meet many other small business owners in the dog world, who were full of tips and advice and of course… the highlight of our weekend was meeting SO many gorgeous doggies, as you can see from our photos.
There were several activities and events that are of interest to dog owners. One of the main attractions is the dog show, which features a range of competitions for different breeds and sizes of dogs, such as Best in Show, Prettiest Bitch, and Handsomest Dog. We were set up opposite the main ring so got to see all the contestants and of course, the lucky winners too.
There were also dog agility demonstrations and competitions, where dogs and their owners navigate through obstacle courses. And rare breeds were shown, we very much enjoyed seeing all the rare breed gun dogs and chatting to their owners.
We were especially pleased to be able to share our new Spring Harness collection, before it officially launched on our website last week. Super soft and extra stylish, our herringbone pattern adjustable harnesses are available in either sky blue, mint green or cream designs. They have a super soft material for ultimate pet comfort and are breathable and durable – and as you can see from our pictures, our furry friends were really taken by them!
We ran a free raffle over the weekend to win one of our pastel rope leads. The lucky winner was selected at random and has now been notified via email. Our next event will be at Wandsworth Bridge Road in London on Sunday 21 May – we hope to see lots of you there and we’ll be running another free raffle to win some Bew Dogs goodies.
Got ideas for where we should be exhibiting next… send as an email at: [email protected] or send us a message on instagram to let us know.
